Hatti and the Highlands

The powers of the high country north and east of the plain: a chariot empire on the Anatolian plateau that treated with Egypt as an equal, a Cilician highland kingdom it absorbed by treaty rather than conquest, and a kingdom around Lake Van that outlasted the Assyrian army sent to end it. All three were written out of history until their own archives were dug up.

The line below is a time axis. Position on it is date, so concurrency is visible: concurrent polities sit side by side rather than in sequence.

2 sourced edges run between this region and another, to First Dynasty of Babylon and Mitanni. Those are not drawn on this line — a thread that crossed regions would assert a sequence nobody cited — but they are on each polity’s own page.
