Security thread
A thread that sits inside the substrate rather than printed on its surface.

Two complementary halves of one image, printed on the front and the back so that they lie exactly over one another.

Raised printing (intaglio)
Printing that feels rough to the touch, because the ink stands above the surface of the material.

Pairs of raised lines at the left and right edges, letting a denomination be identified by touch.
